Westlock County is buying more time in studying the issue of the Westlock Airport. The Westlock News reports that, at the November 28 council meeting, the county extended their contract with the airport's operators to the end of March. As part of the recent regional colaberation study, there was a series of recommendations on how to improve the airport. Currently, all property taxes collected on the airport go back in to funding the airport. The regional collaberation study suggests doing away with that, and funding the airport through user fees. As the majority of council is new, they extended the contract so they could get up to speed with the issue.
